LEGO Classic Space on display in Heerlen

Our Dutchbricks members Paul and Donna recently had the unique opportunity to literally put their creations on display for an extended period. They set up their LEGO Classic Space display at Blender in Heerlen and told us the following about it:
For some time, we (Donna and Paul) had been in touch with the cultural market shop Blender in the centre of Heerlen, where we often popped in as customers ourselves. We got chatting to the owner, Mark, and we also started following each other on Instagram. That’s how he saw that we, as ‘2dopkes', were actively involved with LEGO.

At Blender, people who create things and want to sell them can rent a section of the shop and put their wares on display there. Mark liked what we were doing so much that he asked us to exhibit in the 5-metre-long side window. Not for sale, of course, but as a creative expression. We were certainly up for that!
After briefly considering which theme would be most suitable, we quickly settled on Classic Space. We had exactly a week to prepare, so we had our work cut out for us. However, we felt that the layout should include a touch of Heerlen, which is why, at the last minute, we recreated the iconic Glaspaleis in a space-themed style.
The display was on show throughout April. We’ve since received lots of lovely feedback from friends and acquaintances, as well as from strangers. We hope that our shop window has helped to bring a touch of positivity to the town centre, as that was our main aim.
